User Experience Designer and Researcher
Description:
The user experience (UX) designer and research and analytics position seeks to innovate and improve the interface between user and technology by placing the user at the center. By creating tools for conducting user research in a collaborative team environment the UX researcher uses qualitative methods including persona and scenario development, to evaluate user challenges and solutions incorporating an in-depth understanding of UI design. Grounded in a (UX) design philosophy, the designer develops requirements through use cases and/or marketing, audience centered objectives. The UX designer advocates for users in the development of designs, specifications, implementation and evaluation of solution to leverage visual assets on a continuum of simple to complex environments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
•Designs research tools to gather information from users regarding interface issues, usability, user-centered solutions informed by collaboration with customer advocates, solutions analysts, and user experience designers.
•Uses a variety of research methods and tools to gather user centered information for large groups, focus groups and/or individuals.Analyzes data to recommend and inform business and UX requirements to the design team throughout the development, implementation, and acceptance cycles.
•Collaborates with UX research, customer advocates, solutions analysts, PMO, business owners and developers from the early stages of planning user interfaces to implementation and evaluation and deliver of results through strong interaction and visual design that increases usability of software solution.
•Research using a strong working knowledge of usability research methods, and how they are applied in a fast-moving organization. Experience with field studies, participatory design, heuristic evaluations, and competitive testing is also preferred.
•Produces and presents reports on customer needs, attitudes, and behaviors through thoughtful and actionable research informing both strategic and tactical efforts.Advocates for the user based on data analysis and UX solution design experience.
•Creates innovative designs to reach business goals and user needs in a strategic manner that incorporates the way the user does business and maximizes the technology capability.Provides business requirements to team to create wireframes, produce and test prototypes with users; and develop visual assets.
•Ensures continuity in visual messaging and campaigns through a multi-channel approach using a team environment. Utilizes method(s) most likely to deliver greatest audience appeal and increase engagement based on marketing objectives.
•Develops visual assets for print, websites, digital marketing channels, and social media considering brand marketing objectives, upon request.
•Attends various offsite meetings occasionally, traveling to a variety of venues during evenings, overnights, and weekends to represent the company, to seek training opportunities, and/or to present information approximately 3-4 times a year. Remains current in technology education to ensure deliverables are leading edge.
•Performs other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in the field of in human factors, graphic design, computer science, social sciences, psychology, statistics or related behavioral sciences field plus at least one year of experience supporting/devising complex interaction design and/or a combination of experience and education.
•Human Computer Interaction (H.C.I.) certification preferred.Knowledge of the Abode Suite plus knowledge of JavaScript preferred.Experience with prototyping and prototyping software.
•Demonstrated passion for interactive software design and the ability to use a strategic business building approach to UX design while integrating user research and usability methodologies.
•Experience initiating and pursuing solutions based on research and persistent investigation as well as working with user groups.
•Demonstrated knowledge of research techniques and ability to produce analysis used to create business and design requirements. Ability to identify meaningful data to extrapolate correlations between variables to influence stakeholders.
•Ability to listen to and develop rapport with interview subjects.Ability to follow a line of inquiry using questions and perceptions.Ability to think quickly and work well in one-on-one and/or group settings.
•Strong problem-solving skills with balanced interaction and visual design skills to increase user engagement.
•Experience (work or classroom) in evolving design solutions from hand-sketched ideas to interactive prototypes.
•Ability to solve complex UI design problems, take action and drive for results in within a multi-disciplinary team.
•Ability to think creatively to develop original ideas and concepts for work published in a variety of forms and published on a variety of channels.
•Ability to professionally present marketing and product information primarily through the written word to a variety of audiences and forums.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines as required by business need.Ability to identify, set, and achieve goals.
•Ability to function independently and work in an environment with limited supervision.
•Ability to work in a harmonious manner with others.Ability to work in a team environment and assist team members with projects upon request.Ability to collaborate with teams in other business units.
•Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal, communication, listening and customer service skills in person, on the phone and electronically. Follow through to resolution is essential.
•Ability to use general office equipment and demonstrate basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license and travel from the home office to meeting sites, interview location or GMRC customer office as needed with limited notice.Overnight travel is occasionally require depending on business need.Ability to adhere to the Fleet Safety Policy.
•Ability to maintain regular and predictable work schedule to meet the needs of our customers and provide adequate coverage during our core business hours.



Supervisor Responsibilities:
•No supervisory responsibilities are required for this position.



Responsibility & Decision Making Authority:
•Determines content and sources for content, content ownership, adheres to guidelines when seeking approval or giving approval, makes decisions regarding sources for communications within authority level.



Fiscal Responsibility:
•Minimal direct impact to company financial status.May make recommendations regarding customer communications and tools for the effective delivery.
•Responsible for reporting business expenses in a timely manner through an expense account for any work-related travel.



Contacts (Internal, External)
•Internal contacts outside of division may include interaction with many areas of the company including both operations and support divisions.
•External contacts include vendors, agents, and mutuals. Contact may be in person, by phone or e-mail.



Working Conditions and Physical Efforts
•While performing the duties of this job in a standard office environment, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The position requires the individual to speak with people in person and to talk on the telephone. The employee may occasionally reach with hands and arms. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
•This position involves work with computer keyboard and phone.Vision requirements are heavily tied to those associated with working with alpha and numeric data found on a computer monitor.Vision requirements include close work and the ability to focus.
•This position requires occasional travel to conduct interviews and attend offsite meetings or seminars, including occasional overnight stays.
•Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
