Business Analyst
Description:
Position Purpose:

The Business Analyst collaborates with the Product Owner and SMEs to develop and define user stories, acceptance criteria, and assumptions. They will serve as a liaison between stakeholders and the agile team to communicate the business needs and further refine user stories. The Business Analyst is responsible for maintaining a healthy product backlog and communicating with other teams when dependencies are identified. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Position may be filled at a different level based on experience. Guidewire experience preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Writes User Stories including detailed acceptance criteria and assumptions.
•Collaborates with stakeholders to identify business needs.
•Elicits requirements.
•Maintains healthy product backlog.
•Successfully identifies and manages dependencies. Clearly communicates dependencies to other agile teams.
•Quickly grasp business processes and functions.
•Educate internal stakeholders and build collaborative relationships.
•Software usability analysis in an Agile environment.
•Consults Product Owner on conflicting business needs.
•Performs all other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Associates’ degree from an accredited college/university in business related or technology related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•Familiar with Agile methodology.
•Acquainted with JIRA or similar software.
•Ability to understand basic insurance terminology applicable to personal, commercial, and reinsurance lines of insurance. Associate in General Insurance (AINS) or progress toward designation preferred.
•Ability to learn and operate specialized applications, proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
•Ability to think logically and to continually use personal judgment, experience, known facts and figures to make decisions and deal with problems. Possesses sound analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
•Demonstrated ability to work with customers and build relationships to evaluate business needs. Acts with diplomacy and consideration when evaluating request.
•Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment towards assignment and problem solving. Exhibits self-assurance and a creative aptitude.
•Ability to communicate and present in both oral and written format. Develops presentation skills to share information with both technical and non-technical personnel. Adapts communication style to individual audience and skill level.
•Ability to work in a harmonious manner with stakeholders, agile team, and leadership.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality.
•Limited travel may be required.
