Database Administrator
Description:
To design, control, and maintain database in a consistent and secure manner which ensures stability for users and optimizes servers and data performance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
•Identifies database requirements to optimize performance.Gathers data and information by interviewing customers, analyzing department applications, and other methods as required.
•Consults with development, systems, and operations teams to improve stability and performance of systems.
•Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.
•Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; coordinating installation requirements.
•Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
•Defines and governs database standards for the organization as the subject matter expert.
•Contributes to team efforts in established timeframes and quality standards.
•Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
•Performs all duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in computer related field with five years of experience in Database Administration; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
•Demonstrated knowledge of database administration including but not limited to:Database Performance Tuning, Database Security, Promoting Process Improvement, Database Management, Data Maintenance, and Information Security Policies.
•Proven ability to analyze infrastructure, evaluate products, services and technologies, and make recommendations based on goals of project and organization.
•Ability to think logically and to continually use personal judgment, experience, known facts and figures to make decisions and deal with problems.Possesses sound analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Recognizes processing system inefficiencies and recommends improvements.
•Possess strong attention to details and understands the potential impact of work performed.Correct own work and delivers quality output.
•Ability to leverage communication in both written and verbal format to obtain and share information, negotiate deliverables, and collaborate through relationships.
•Incorporates active listening skills to gain information and clarification. Ability to present information to audiences of any size and background, including executive teams, with confidence and credibility while ensuring audience understanding.
•Ability to plan and organize time to be successful in environment of multiple deadlines and interruptions.Acts with purpose to reduce redundancies and reworks.
•Must be able to read, understand, and apply technical manuals to determine the best course of action.
•Must have the ability to identify opportunities, research and execute that research.
•Ability to work in a harmonious manner with co-employees, customers, agents and supervisor.
•Ability to keep a regular work schedule and maintain regular, predictable attendance.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality.
•Limited travel as required between worksites and for occasional training and seminars.Must be able to adhere to and meet the fleet safety guidelines.



Supervisor Responsibilities:
•No supervisory responsibilities assigned.



Responsibility & Decision Making Authority:
•Makes decisions related to Infrastructure Services Resources required to protect corporate data associated with organization, its customers, and their customers.
•The DBA is responsible for assigned projects from beginning to completion including attending and actively participating in project meetings, defining specifications, developing solutions unit testing and preparing system documentation.
•Responsible for communicating status updates to Project Manager/Coordinator, team members, stakeholders, and supervisor to ensure information is shared appropriately.
•Responsible for making recommendations to supervisor or mentor based on knowledge of project and requests from the business unit. Considers corporate goals and applies knowledge to individual situations.



Fiscal Responsibility:
•Responsible to work proactively in bringing projects to completion in a timely manner and fully utilizing resources to stay within budget.



Contacts (Internal, External)
•Occasionally works with representatives from all areas of the organization.Frequently works with team mates in a collaborative project team environment.
•Frequently works with outside vendors and partners to coordinate seamless integrations focusing on security and policies.



Working Conditions and Physical Efforts

•The DBA is required to respond to technical support calls within area of expertise as assigned causing interruption and need to balance multiple priorities.
•During times of infrastructure changes, conversion or system implementation, DBA may be required to work weekends or non-typical work hours to support technical issues from system checkout procedures to verify correct implementations. The DBA has regular on-call responsibilities based on a rotating schedule.
•The position is physically located in the home office with a work environment of a typical office setting; noise level is relatively quiet. The position requires an individual to sit for long periods of time, use repetitive motion, and must possess visual acuity.
