Description:
BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST

The Business Systems Analyst facilitates desired business outcomes collaboration with Agile teams. The BSA creates functional requirements that consider both business and technical impacts. Serves as the liaison between business stakeholders and the Agile team to translate business needs into realized business value.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The Business Systems Analyst facilitates desired business outcomes collaboration with Agile teams. The BSA creates functional requirements that consider both business and technical impacts. Serves as the liaison between business stakeholders and the Agile team to translate business needs into realized business value.

Responsibilities
Constructs workflow charts and diagrams, data flow diagrams, data modeling, and system models.


Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.


Improves systems by studying current practices; designing modifications and spotting technical constraints.


Maintains system protocols by writing and updating documentation.


Provide triage of production support and technical support items. Participate in code deployment and migration.


Develops and defines user stories, acceptance criteria and assumptions in collaboration with the agile team and SMEs to facilitate a strong solution with high risk mitigation.


Maintains a healthy product backlog for scrum team and communicates with other agile teams when dependencies are identified.


Researches solutions and supports options for current business operational systems to support existing applications or provide solutions to existing technology issues. Collaborates with business unit stakeholders to identify business needs and elicit requirements. Analyzes and decomposes complex requirements.


Consults Product Owner when business priorities conflict or needs change. Collaborates and negotiates with business units on project work that increases efficiencies and productivity.


Researches and implements continuous improvement opportunities in daily activities. Shares findings with peers, agile team members, and business units.


Develops business acumen of general business practices and Grinnell Mutual technical processes to articulate business needs to the agile team.

Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college/university in business related or technology related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Must demonstrate ability to quickly grasp business processes and functions and how they relate to each other.


Visualization and prototyping skills.


Knowledge of software designing concepts.


Working knowledge of database concepts like DBMS, ETL, and SQL. Ability to run and modify SQL queries successfully and accurately


Understanding networks, operating systems, and technology interfaces.


Possess sound analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.


Ability to understand basic insurance terminology applicable to personal, commercial, and reinsurance lines of insurance. Associate in General Insurance (AINS) or progress toward designation preferred.


Advanced working knowledge of Agile methodologies and ability to apply daily application of principles.


Extensive experience with planning to assist in shaping project timelines while potentially managing multiple projects varying in size and complexity.


Ability to share information with both technical and non-technical personnel. Adapts communication style to individual audience and skill level.


Ability to learn quickly, grasp business processes and functions and understand how they will impact the working product. This includes both technology and Property and Casualty insurance related concepts.


Demonstrated ability to work with customers and build relationships to evaluate business needs. Acts with diplomacy and consideration when evaluating request.


Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment towards assignment and problem solving.


Ability to function independently and work in an environment with limited supervision.


Ability to work in a harmonious manner with stakeholders, agile team, and leadership.


Prefer experience with JIRA or similar workflow software.


Progression towards completing technical coursework preferred.
