Quality Assurance Analyst
Description:
QUALITY ASSURANCE ANALYST

The QA Analyst will execute test plans to validate and verify that software meets the acceptance criteria, document defects and work with test leadership to support quality in an agile development environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:
The QA Analyst will execute test plans to validate and verify that software meets the acceptance criteria, document defects and work with test leadership to support quality in an agile development environment.

Responsibilities
Designs, develops, and defines test cases, test plans, and scope based on the specification requirements of the end user to ensure quality and performance outcomes. Incorporates system, regression, and quality performance levels through utilization of a consistent testing methodology.


Executes tests and analyzes outcome to ensure new and updated applications meet or exceed quality standards and user requirements before released to a production environment. Ensures the product is usable, reliable, and valid to support the needs of the end user.


Identifies and reports testing results to ensure functionality, quality, and quantity standards are met. Collaborates with development team and manger to determine appropriate solutions and retests corrections to ensure problems are resolved.


Documents status of testing per industry and organizational standard methodologies to ensure highest quality results and replication. Logs, tracks, and verifies resolution of software and specific defects against user criteria.


Maintains current with the career field and applies knowledge to work product.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other related field and minimum of 2-3 years software QA experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Working knowledge of IT industry standard test management and test automation tools required. Advanced experience testing client/server and web based applications. General knowledge of testing methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and iterative SDLCs.


Advanced experience in all phases of software QA testing and documentation. Must be able to implement and documenting test plans and scripts.


Experience utilizing SQL plus experience with SQL Database Query Analyzer preferred. Ability to create automated tests using an automated testing tool with experience scripting/setting up reusable test function sets.



Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, schedule, and meet deadlines while concurrently managing multiple medium to large projects.


Demonstrated initiative and persistence in follow through with customers, testing, and conversion projects.


Working knowledge of insurance policies and endorsements associated with personal, commercial, and reinsurance lines of business preferred. Willingness to develop a working knowledge of industry and Grinnell Mutual specific business practices. Must be able to appropriately apply learned knowledge as it relates to responsibilities of this position.


Understands and incorporates software development methodologies and documentation standards. Ability to utilize known information and reasonable assumptions to create and recommend solutions.


Ability to work in a harmonious manner with co-workers, supervisor, customers, and general public. Must be able to work collaboratively in a team setting.


Ability to work with minimal supervision.


Ability to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

The Software QA Analyst may be required to work outside of typical work hours to meet strict deadlines associated with projects. During times of conversion or system implementation, the Software QA Analyst may be required to work weekends or non-typical work hours.
