Help Needed – Apply Today

Can you work from 6 AM to 10 PM on June 2 & attend a two-hour training session in May? We need you to join our team for the June 2 Primary Election. Help our workers who are at higher risk for COVID-19 by giving them an Election Day off. College students, teachers, service workers are all encouraged to apply.

Every election day, hundreds of precinct election officials are needed to staff polling places located throughout Poweshiek County. As an election official, you will be a key factor in how citizens regard elections & it will be your job to ensure anyone who is eligible and wants to vote is given the opportunity.

As an election official you would set up voting equipment, check that persons are qualified to vote, update registrations and perform new registrations, operate iPad tablets, pack equipment, report votes, complete paperwork, and clean up polling area.

Individuals must have:

· energy and stamina for the long hours

· good reading & listening skills

· legible handwriting

· enjoy people & service to others

· able to work as a team member

· follow & explain election laws

· willing to attend a training class.

Precinct election officials earn $9.00 per hour for attending training and working Election Day. Mileage is paid for travel to training & polling location.
